Keith, Jackie, and Baby Penny Hike Mt. Washburn with Grandparents in Tow

Keith, Jackie, and baby Penny came for a visit. Keith wanted to go for a hike in the park this trip so we chose to hike Mt. Washburn.
We found out that this hike is not for the faint of heart, OR the out of shape.  You ascend 1400 vertical feet in elevation over 3.2 miles.  That may not sound like a lot but it was.  Keith carried Penny most of the way up but we each took turns.

The flowers were amazing!
We even saw a herd of big horn sheep jumping and playing on the snow up at the top.
A photographer with the sheep at rest.

At the top there is a three story building with an closed in look out area, an open air look out area, and a ranger station where a ranger lives all summer long watching for fires.

The weather was beautiful today and the views from on top were amazing.

This is the trail coming from Dunraven pass, the other way up, which is even steeper.

Here's proof that we made it all the way up.   My hat is tied on because of the wind.

Jackie carried Penny all the way down the mountain by herself.  What a buff chick!

Penny was no help at all.  Next time we hike this one, she may have to carry us!
